In Ukraine regional offices on local government reform begin their work for effective decentralisation

The Government created a network of Regional offices on local government reform and decentralisation of power and they have already begun their work.

The Cabinet emphasizes that the offices of reforms in the first stage to provide organizational, consultative, informational assistance to RSAs for the creation of a territorial basis of local government.

The regional state administrations are responsible for carrying out the process of creation of wealthy communities through their voluntary amalgamation. And, according to officials, the first assistant in this work – from the formation of a draft strategic plan for the formation of territorial communities prior to their approval by the sessions of regional councils, will be the Office of Reforms.

Government representatives stress that the whole process of creation of wealthy territorial communities should be completed by September. It is planned that the next local election, which under the Constitution is on October 25, will be held on a new territorial basis.
