PM: Anti-corruption strategy of Ukraine should base on the model of the Polish strategy
Prime Minister of Ukraine Arseniy Yatsenyuk intends to appeal to the
Government of the Republic of Poland with a request to send experts to Ukraine
to facilitate implementation of the program on combating corruption and the
examination of Ukrainian anti-corruption legislation. The Head of Government informed
at a briefing following his meeting with Chairman of the Central Anticorruption Bureau of
Poland Paweł Wojtunik on Thursday, April 23.
The Prime Minister noted that Paweł Wojtunik had arrived to Kyiv
at an invitation of the Government of Ukraine, "so that we could jointly
undertake the development of a comprehensive anti-corruption strategy in
Ukraine".
The PM of Ukraine stressed that the anti-corruption strategy in Ukraine should
base following an example of Polish one: "I would like in Ukraine those
responsible for curbing corruption could build a clear and understandable strategy
following the example [of Poland – ed.]".

According to Arseniy Yatsenyuk, participants of the meeting underlined
that fighting corruption there is essential to coordinate the entire law
enforcement system and all public authorities. "Activity of the National
Anti-Corruption Bureau alone is not enough to fight corruption," stressed
the Head of Government. Another compulsory element, he said, curbing corruption in the upper echelons
of power, as well as the so-called everyday corruption, "each Ukrainian might
face every day”: "I am talking about corruption cases in the State Automobile
Inspectorate, the Customs, the Tax Service, school and hospital”. Arseniy Yatsenyuk appealed to Paweł Wojtunik with a request from the Polish side to help
Ukraine primary regarding an issue of anti-corruption legislation: "We have
dozens of laws that need to be analysed and Poland has passed this stage. We
would like Poland to conduct a legal examination of all laws directed to
combating corruption in Ukraine". Moreover, he informed that he would address the Prime Minister of
Poland Ewa Kopacz to ask
the Polish Government to send experts to Ukraine to facilitate implementation
of the program on combating corruption. |
