PM: We waged a war against corrupt mafia

"In the fight against the corrupt mafia the main thing is to continue to fight, hold out and go on. I believe that we are on the only right path. It is very important that the President and Prime Minister work together, as we are working today," Prime Minister of Ukraine Arseniy Yatsenyuk said this in the program Facty tyzhnia with Oksana Sokolova on ICTV.

Arseniy Yatsenyuk stressed that the corrupt mafia after the Revolution "still remains": "Although we changed the upper echelon, the rest digged in, hidden, changed their color."

"When you begin to fight against the whole powerful mafia, she is looking for support in the Parliament, media and they have money to do this. And they start to fight with me personally and with the Government," he stressed.

"Their plans foresee my dismissal, as well as coalition’s break-up. It's the repetition of 2005. It won’t work now," the Prime Minister said.

He underlined that in this situation the President of Ukraine and the Government of Ukraine "are one in this fight." "The main thing is to continue to fight, hold out and go on. I believe that we are on the only right path. It is very important that the President and Prime Minister work together, as we are working today," he noted.

"The President along with the Premier Minister is aware of the responsibility for the fate of the country. This is the last chance for Ukraine and we are to realize this chance," Arseniy Yatsenyuk emphasized.

The Prime Minister said that the detention of the Head of the State Emergency Services and his deputy directly at a Government’s meeting was part of a coherent work of the real fight against corruption.

Arseniy Yatsenyuk reminded that two months ago the Government had launched an internal investigation into the management of the tax administration, tax police and customs, "All the three were fired. The DFS Chairman resigned his office, and the tax collector and tax policeman were dismissed by the Government's decision. Materials were submitted to the prosecution."

Also, he recalled, the Head of the State Financial Inspection was suspended during the official investigation, "He asked the political parties for help him in order to avoid responsibility. Nothing will come of it."

"He appears at a press conference and talks about some abuse," he reminded. Arseniy Yatsenyuk stressed that the intermediate results of the official investigation found that all the facts mentioned by the suspended Head of the DFI concerned the Yanukovych-Azarov Government.

The Prime Minister said on his behalf the relevant criminal cases had been filed, "I would like the investigation to be completed, and the whole country will see who is right and who is wrong."

To this end, Arseniy Yatsenyuk reminded, he appealed to the Prosecutor General of Ukraine to open an appropriate criminal case: "If there are any questions to the PM, I will personally come to testify. If there are any questions to any member of the Cabinet, everyone will come to testify."

"We have a new country, we have new approaches. Nobody has a privilege," the Prime Minister said.
