Minister of Energy and Coal Industry of Ukraine met with US MCs

On March 30, Minister of Energy and Coal Industry of Ukraine Volodymyr Demchyshyn met with US Members of Congress.

During the meeting the Minister informed about the joint work of the Ministry of Energy and Coal Industry, Naftogaz Ukrainy and the World Bank on the development of gas sector reform, the implementation of reforms in the energy sector, in particular in the framework of cooperation between Ukraine and the IMF, and also thanked for the support from the United States and Canada aimed at developing a National Plan of emergency response in the fuel and energy sector during the 2014/2015 autumn-winter period.

Volodymyr Demchyshyn noted measures in order to bring the functioning of Ukraine's GTS with the requirements of the Third Energy Package, in particular, he stressed that on March 5, 2015, the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine adopted as a basis a bill "On principles of natural gas market functioning" and it was prepared for consideration in the second reading. He also said that Ukraine together with the Energy Community is working to reform the electricity market.
