Arseniy Yatsenyuk demands to ensure compliance of safety standards at passenger transport with European requirements
A truck and a passenger bus, which collided in a tragic accident in
Poltava region, had no relevant technical documentation and were re-equipped
without permits. Prime Minister of Ukraine Arseniy Yatsenyuk said at a meeting
of the State Emergency Commission Monday, March 16.
Arseniy Yatsenyuk reminded in the crash of a truck and a passenger bus in
the motorway in Poltava region seven people had been killed, nine – seriously
injured.
"Both the truck and the passenger bus didn’t have relevant technical
documentation and were re-equipped without any appropriate permits," he
stressed.
He called as unacceptable the road traffic mortality rate and stressed
that in 2014 deaths in road accidents had risen by
22%.

Yatsenyuk accentuated the need to ensure compliance of vehicles carrying
passengers with European safety standards, "Relevant re-equipment of such
buses is possible only if it meets the safety norms".
