Arseniy Yatsenyuk met with Patriarch Filaret

Minister of Ukraine Arseniy Yatsenyuk met with head of the Ukrainian Orthodox
Church - Kyiv Patriarchy, Patriarch of Kyiv and all Rus-Ukraine
Filaret.
The meeting concerned
a number of the urgent problems in relations between the Church and the
government, the expansion of activities in charity, information and monument preservation
areas, the participation in the patriotic education of youth. Patriarch Filaret informed the Prime Minister about what the Church
is doing to help the Armed Forces of Ukraine, those wounded in military
operations, and to support internally displaced persons.
Arseniy Yatsenyuk stressed
that the Government evaluates the civil position of the Church, its efforts to
strengthen the Ukrainian statehood, the consolidation of society, its spiritual
development.
Special attention was
paid to discussing the situation in illegally annexed Crimea and uncontrolled
territories of Donbas, in which there are brutally suppressed freedom of religion,
destroyed temples, abducted and subjected to torture the clergy and the
congregation.
