Volodymyr Demchyshyn had working meeting with Director of the Energy Community Secretariat Janez Kopac
On March 4, 2015 Minister
of Energy and Coal Industry Volodymyr Demchyshyn held a working meeting with the Director of
the Energy Community Secretariat Janez Kopac. During the meeting the parties discussed a number of
issues including reforming of the oil, gas and power industries, cooperation
with the Energy Community Secretariat and the process of drafting relevant laws
and regulations.
The Ukrainian side informed
about the preparation for introduction of the provisions of the Third Energy
Package in the electricity and gas sectors and expressed the desire to obtain
further support by the European side of the process of drafting normative legal
acts to ensure compliance of the national legislation of Ukraine with the provisions
of the 3rd energy package.
The Director of the
Energy Community Secretariat positively evaluated the process of preparation by
the Ukrainian side a bill “On the principles of natural gas market functioning"
and noted that such work is an example of good cooperation between Ukraine and
the Secretariat of the Energy Community at all stages of preparation of the draft
document.
The European side confirmed
their willingness to provide further expert support on the part of the Energy
Community Secretariat in the process of implementation by Ukraine of the
European legal norms in the oil, gas and electricity areas, including for the
preparation of normative-legal acts.
Apart from that, the
meeting concerned the discussion of the need to make changes to the Law of
Ukraine "On the principles of electricity market functioning".
The meeting was
attended by Deputy Minister Ihor Didenko,
Chairman of the Naftogaz of Ukraine Board Andrii Kobolev, acting Director of the Ukrenerho
Yurii Kasich and others.
