The Minister of Social
Policy held talks with the leadership of the IMF mission headed by Nikolay Georgiev.
In the framework of
negotiations on granting Ukraine a financial assistance there was tackled an
issue of reforming the social sphere, in particular pension reforms.
Pavlo Rozenko announced that there
was no alternative to reforms in Ukraine, however,
they could not be implemented at the account of ordinary citizens. According to
the Minister, a multi-billion dollar deficit of the Pension Fund should be
overcome not by increasing the retirement age, but through a set of reforms, namely
the de-shadowing of wages and preventing of unfair ultrahigh special pensions.
