Ukraine-Japan agreement to promote the development of promising areas of investment cooperation
On Thursday, February 5, an agreement on
promotion and protection of investment between Ukraine and
Japan has been signed. This agreement will
facilitate the development of promising areas of investment
cooperation, trigger foreign investment and technology, reduce non-commercial
risks facing by foreign investors and help consolidate a positive
image of Ukraine as a country with
a favorable investment climate in the
international arena. Signing of the agreement will be an important signal
to Japanese and other
foreign investors that money invested into Ukraine will
be out of danger, noted Minister of Economic Development
and Trade of Ukraine Aivaras Abromavicius, who
signed the document from the Ukrainian
side.
"Signing of the agreement provides a powerful signal
to investors that their rights will be protected
at the international level", Aivaras Abromavicius said.
He has also added that now there
are opportunities for investors to come and gain
a foothold in the Ukrainian market at quite low competition, which
could then bring good profits.
"Thanks to the signing
of the agreement, it is expected to increase transparency of
the investment climate in the country, as
well as to attract and protect Japanese
investment. This document is one of the
elements of Japan's assistance aimed
at improving the economic situation in Ukraine", Ambassador
Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of
Japan to Ukraine Shigeki Sumy, who
signed the agreement from the Japanese side, noted.
