Arseniy Yatsenyuk met with representatives of German business circles in Berlin

On Wednesday, January 7, Prime Minister of Ukraine Arseniy Yatsenyuk met with representatives of German business circles in Berlin.

The event, organized by the Eastern Committee of German Economy, was attended by the leading German industrial and financial institutions that are already doing business in Ukraine or interested in investment projects.

Opening the event, Arseniy Yatsenyuk stressed the importance of overcoming Russian aggression and getting peace in order to restore investors’ confidence, "All are interested in peace and stability. Everyone wants to succeed, and we are seeking to create a success story in Ukraine - to the mutual benefit of German and Ukrainian businesses."

The Prime Minister of Ukraine noted that there may be "very successful bilateral projects in the agriculture and energy sectors": "But to achieve this, we first need to get peace in Ukraine. And it's up to us - the European Union, Germany (the leader of the EU), and Ukraine - whether we are ready and whether we are able to reach real peace in Ukraine. And not only in Ukraine – it’s about security and stability in Europe."

Among the main issues of discussion were the economic benefits from a free trade zone between Ukraine and the EU, a package of reforms recently passed by the Government and future plans of the Government on deregulation and improvement of the business climate.

Particular attention was paid to investment prospects in energy, including energy transportation and energy efficiency, as well as in the sector of agriculture and food industry.
