Arseniy Yatsenyuk instructs Minister of Energy and Coal Industry to speed up resolution of issue of electricity supplies and ensuring power plants with coal
Prime Minister of Ukraine Arseniy Yatsenyuk has
instructed Minister of Energy and Coal Industry of Ukraine Volodymyr
Demchyshyn to speed up the resolution of issue of
delivery of electricity supplies and ensuring power plants with coal.
The Prime Minister said at a meeting of the
Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine on Wednesday, December 24, that he gave some
instructions to Minister of Energy and Coal Industry to address issues of
"electricity supply and ensuring our power plants with coal."
Arseniy Yatsenyuk also stressed that the Government
"has demonopolised and fully opened market for
all companies, which have Ukrainian license for imports of electricity."
The Prime Minister again appealed to Volodymyr Demchyshyn demanding to
speed up the resolution of these issues.
The situation is very complex in the power
system, says Arseniy Yatsenyuk and if temperature falls "the situation will
be more complicated than it is today": "What is now saves us – it is the
temperature. If temperature goes down - coal consumption will increase at once,
and rolling power cuts will be massive."
PM said that we had state of emergency for
several months at the energy market, and he named several key problems that
cause rolling power cuts: "The first key problem - Russian terrorists, who
do not allow us to take about 3 million tons of coal accumulated at Ukrainian
mines in the territories, temporarily controlled by terrorists. They also
destroyed a number of key points of railroads, mined junctions."
