Volodymyr Demchyshyn: Disconnection of Zaporizhia NPP's unit caused by technical reasons and is not dangerous
Unit No. 3 at the Zaporizhia nuclear power plant will be restored by the end of the week, Minister
of Energy and Coal Industry of Ukraine Volodymyr Demchyshyn said at a briefing at the Government
House on
Wednesday, December 3,
commenting the disconnection from
the integrated power system for repairs of unit №3 at the Zaporizhia NPP on November 28.
"Actually, there is no threat at the Zaporizhia nuclear power plant. There was an electrical short circuit in
the system of energy delivery late last week, thus, only one unit, unit №3, is out of order at the nuclear
power plant. There
is no
threat to the reactor. This is technical damage which is being eliminated. The block is in a state of repair", the
Minister said.
Volodymyr Demchyshyn
has said that the
disconnection of one
of the units did not caused significant damage, but it affected the capacity of power delivery. He has assured that experts are now working to address
this problem and
the problem is to be eliminated maximum by the end of the
week: "Energoatom plans to fully restore the operation of
this unit
by Friday."
