Another round of tripartite consultations among Ukraine, the EU and the RF on energy issues held in Brussels, October 21
The Ukrainian delegation was led for the talks in Brussels by Minister of
Energy and Coal Industry of Ukraine Yurii Prodan, the EC delegation was headed by Vice-President of
the European Commission, Commissioner for Energy, Günther
Oettinger, the Russian delegation
– by Russian Energy Minister Alexander Novak.

In the framework of the consultations, the parties expressed a common
position on the following issues: - fixing the price at USD 385 per 1 thousand cubic meters of gas to be
delivered within the limit of “the winter package”, shipments of gas based on
prepayment and refusal from the “take or pay” principle throughout the
mentioned period. Volumes of gas that is to be purchased under such
conditions shall be agreed additionally; - the schedule of payment by Ukraine of the debt worth USD 3.1 billion
for the previous shipment of Russian gas basing on the price at USD 268.5
(the first tranche worth USD 1.45 billion by late October and USD 1.65
billion by the end of year); - Russia’s guarantees in payment of gas transit via Ukraine. The
next round of consultations is due on October 29, in Brussels. |
