Ostap Semerak: There won't be any corruption schemes in the gas market
"The times of old corruption shadow schemes,
when there was only one monopoly gas supplier for the state, like it used to be
"RosUkrEnergo", have passed away".
This was stated by the Minister of the Cabinet of Ministers Ostap
Semerak in an interview with the news agency "Glavkom".
In particular, the Minister reminded that the
Chairman of "Naftogaz of Ukraine" and the Prime Minister
"honestly say that we still have gas shortage for about 5 billion cubic
meters for the approaching winter. We must find this gas in order to survive
the winter, to ensure the effective work of the economy".
According to the Minister, there is a chance to
find the lacking amount of gas at the account of the reverse flow, “The first
direction that isn’t exploited at full capacity is a pipe from Hungary. If
someone making business in Ukraine has an opportunity to buy gas from the
European Union, Ukraine has the opportunity as a state, as Government, as the
owner of the GTS, to deliver this gas to Ukraine via the Hungarian
pipeline." Answering the question regarding Russian gas, the Minister said
that "if someone of the Ukrainian producers, of the Ukrainian gas
consumers is determined to conclude direct contracts with Russia, with
Turkmenistan for gas shipments to Ukraine, the state can ensure the delivery of
this gas to Ukraine".
