Arseniy Yatsenyuk: Nowadays the Russian side lacks political will to stick to peace agreements

"Presently we can admit that the Russian side has neither political nor any other will to implement a peace agreement," said the Prime Minister of Ukraine Arseniy Yatsenyuk at a meeting with the OSCE permanent mission in Kyiv on Monday, October 6.

Arseniy Yatsenyuk reminded that following Minsk memorandum Russia had to withdraw its troops from Ukraine, "It hasn’t been fulfilled by the Russian Federation. Second, Russia had to stop supporting by them terrorists in Donetsk and Luhansk regions and it also failed. And third, the immediate regaining of control over the Ukrainian-Russian border. And it wasn’t fulfilled as well, through the reluctance of the Russian Federation".

"We are deeply concerned with the way the ceasefire regime is preserved. Every day Ukrainian soldiers suffer from fire shots by Russia led guerrillas. We are losing military, losing civilians", stressed the Head of Government of Ukraine.

"We call on Russia to do all they could to make the terrorists supported by them stop the fire," said Arseniy Yatsenyuk.

He has stressed that Minsk memorandum is "just the first step and a lot must be done so that it worked", "the preliminary agreement reached in Minsk, might lead us to peace. But today, I'm rather sceptical about how they comply with it".

"On our part we do everything possible to de-escalate the situation and find a peaceful solution," said the Prime Minister of Ukraine.

Arseniy Yatsenyuk has stressed that the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine appreciates the efforts of the OSCE aimed to achieve peace and support of Ukraine.

The PM informed two UAVs had arrived to Ukraine that undergo clearance procedures and will be used by the OSCE observer mission, “We expect these unmanned aerial vehicles to be used as soon as possible. It would enable to determine additionally whether the ceasefire regime preserved”.
