PM believes qualitative patriotic education to be a response to new challenges caused by information war

Prime Minister of Ukraine Arseniy Yatsenyuk considers it necessary to immediately adapt the curriculum and meet the challenges of information war by providing qualitative patriotic education in nursery, primary and high schools, the PM stated this on Thursday, October 2, at a meeting with students and teachers at the Borys Grinchenko Kyiv University on the eve of the Teacher’s Day.

"Russian tanks will go away, but there is a much more powerful weapon. It has been already used today, and it is very effective, it is an information weapon," Arseniy Yatsenyuk underlined.

According to him, Russia uses the information weapon by "interpretation of history and through the Russian prism, presenting information that meets only imperial ambitions, distorting the facts and reforging the consciousness of the people residing in Donetsk and Luhansk regions."

"That's why I put the issue of Ukrainian patriotic education at the same level as knowledge of foreign languages, mathematics, physics, and even higher," he stressed.

Arseniy Yatsenyuk addressed to Minister of Education and Science of Ukraine Serhiy Kvit and Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine on Science and Education Liliia Hrynevych, who attended the meeting: "We must now immediately adapt curricula to the new challenge, which we did not face before, to meet this challenge by providing quality patriotic education in primary, nursery and high schools. It is without a doubt."

"Our weapon is knowledge, Ukrainian patriotism and spirit in every kindergarten, in every school and every university. Our weapon is when our every student comes and says proudly: I am a Ukrainian, I know, for what I'm fighting, and I love my country," the Prime Minister said.
