PM held talks with his Austrian counterpart

On Tuesday, October 1, the Prime Minister of Ukraine held talks with Federal Chancellor of Austria Werner Faymann, who arrived on a visit to Ukraine.

"We really appreciate your support, your strong position and how you maintain the unity among the EU member states, as well as territorial integrity and independence of Ukraine", the PM welcomed his Austrian counterpart.

The sides discussed the current situation in Ukraine, including economic and security challenges and possible support from the EU.

Arseniy Yatsenyuk expressed concern about the implementation of the peace plan by Russia. "We comply with the peace plan and call on Russia to fulfill all that was written and agreed - to withdraw troops, to regain control over the Ukrainian-Russian border, to stop the supply of terrorists," he stated.

Energy security was one of the key topics of discussion. The Prime Minister stressed the common ground of Ukraine and the European Commission in the negotiations on gas supply from the Russian Federation. Arseniy Yatsenyuk stressed that Russia's attempts to apply the so-called gas blackmail by reducing supply to the European Union must obtain a decisive common response from the European community.
