Pavlo Klimkin met with the Commissioner for Human Rights of the Council of Europe Nils Muiznieks

September 8, Foreign Minister of Ukraine Pavlo Klimkin met with the Council of Europe's Commissioner for Human Rights Nils Muižnieks in the framework of his working visit to Ukraine.

During the meeting the interlocutors discussed issues of monitoring of human rights violations in the Autonomous Republic of Crimea after its temporary occupation by Russia, as well as in Luhansk and Donetsk regions resulted from the activities of the Russian-backed terrorist groups.

Peculiar attention was paid to an issue of liberation of the Ukrainian citizens, illegally detained in the territory of the Russian Federation, in particular, Nadiya Savchenko and Oleh Sentsov.

The parties also tackled a possibility for the Council of Europe Commissioner for Human Rights to facilitate solving the problem with the detained Ukrainian citizens, who remain imprisoned in the territory of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea.
