Minister of Internal Affairs of Ukraine Arsen Avakov met with Council of Europe's delegation

Minister of Internal Affairs of Ukraine Arsen Avakov discussed with Director of Human Rights in the Council of Europe's Directorate General Human Rights and Rule of Law Christos Giakoumopoulos the work of the Ukrainian militia for provision of rights of citizens in the conflict zone, temporary resettlement of people, including children from the East of our country, and reforming the Ministry.

In particular, the Minister focused on the restoring legitimate rights and interests of citizens living in the area of the anti-terrorist operation.

"The function the MIA now is, first of all, to ensure law and order and the rule of law in those cities that already exempt from terrorists. As an example, here is Slavyansk. There returning residents to the city, municipal and social work agencies, educational institutions, hospitals resume their work,"- said the head of the Interior Ministry.

According to the Minister, very serious work is being held by law enforcement officers on the establishment and functioning of the transit points for the temporary resettlement citizens.

"I would like to emphasize that there is no filtration of the refugee camps, we have transit filtration points through which citizens can temporarily move to other regions of the state. And if they can't do it for a few hours, citizens can stay a certain time at these transit points," said Arsen Avakov.

The head of the law enforcement agency told the representatives of the Council of Europe that Ukraine has already established a Central Executive body, which is engaged in the resettlement of citizens from the Crimea, and from the zone of the anti-terrorist operation.

By turn, Christos Giakoumopoulos noted that the aim of the Council of Europe to assist Ukraine in this difficult time to carry out all the necessary reforms and, accordingly, to comply with all international obligations.

Mr. Christos also said that there would be a meeting of the Interagency Advisory group for investigation of the events on Maidan in the near future and he urged the representatives of the Ministry of internal Affairs to join the group.
