Arseniy Yatsenyuk commissions to restore order with application of funds allocated by the Government for national security and defense

The Prime Minister of Ukraine Arseniy Yatsenyuk addressed the Defense Ministry with a demand to restore order within the subordinate department “with application of funds and purchase of necessary equipment”. He said during the Government’s session on Wednesday, August 27.

The PM called it unacceptable how the funds are being used, those allocated by the Government for the national security and defense: “[The funds] of the first tranche allocated by the Government for the national security and defense. Billions of hryvnyas are accumulated. It's our duty as Government to find the money. We have found them. Only 45% have been spent. Just not mention additional UAH 9 billion, we have also accumulated and transferred”.

The Head of Government reminded that at the extraordinary meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers on August 26 a decision had been approved to introduce an urgent procedure of transferring of military equipment and weapon to cover the needs of those participating in ATO: “Also all the equipment and weapons, being now the property of the Ministry of Defense and stored in the facilities of "Ukroboronprom", is the subject to urgent modernization and repair. 

Arseniy Yatsenyuk mentioned the National Guard, “that manages to arm and modernize apace, and properly use funds”.
