Arseniy Yatsenyuk discussed with UN delegation issues of humanitarian assistance to victims of terrorist actions in the East of Ukraine
On Thursday, August 21, the Prime Minister of
Ukraine received the UN delegation headed by Under-Secretary-General for
Political Affairs Jeffrey Feltman and Under-Secretary-General
for Humanitarian Affairs and Emergency Relief Coordinator Valerie Amos.
Arseniy Yatsenyuk discussed with United
Nations’ representatives an issue of humanitarian assistance to the population,
who became the victims to the crimes of Russia-backed terrorists in the East of
Ukraine.
The Head of Government informed about the
adopted by the Cabinet of Ministers decisions on registration and rendering
necessary assistance to people who are forced to leave their homes, resulted
from illegal occupation of Crimea and hostilities in Donetsk and Luhansk regions.
He also informed the representatives of the
United Nations that the Government of Ukraine had twice sent humanitarian aid
to the affected regions.
The UN delegation expressed readiness to
provide necessary technical and financial assistance through the appropriate
international institutions in order to facilitate the resettlement of displaced
persons.
