Minister for Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Pavlo Klimkin met with OSCE Chairperson-in-Office Didier Burkhalter
On June, 24 in
Vienna Minister for Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Pavlo Klimkin
met with OSCE Chairperson-in-Office, President and Minister for Foreign Affair
of Switzerland Didier Burkhalter.
They mainly focused
on discussing the situation in Donetsk and Luhansk regions of Ukraine and the
OSCE engagement to its resolution.
Mr. Klimkin briefed the Chairmanship on the implementation of
the Peace plan set out by President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko
to end violence in the east of the country. D. Burkhalter
expressed his support to the Peace plan of the President of Ukraine. They
exchanged the views on the OSCE engagement in the practical implementation of
the Peace plan, including through the activities of the OSCE Special Monitoring
Mission to Ukraine and participation of Special Representative of the OSCE
Chairperson-in-Office Heidi Tagliavini in the
framework of trilateral Contact Group. Besides, there was a discussion on
practical steps towards implementation of the Peace plan and its timeframe.
Both sides stressed
that all hostages, including OSCE monitors, held by separatists should be
immediately released. It was underlined the importance of the full support of
the Peace plan by the Russian Federation.
Besides, Mr.Klimkin requested the OSCE Chairperson-in-Office to
facilitate the release of Ukrainian filmmaker Oleh Sentsov and other Ukrainian citizens illegally detained by
the Crimean authorities and accused of the terrorist activities.
