Ostap Semerak and Peter Balazs discuss mechanisms of supporting Ukraine by EU

implementation of the Association Agreement with the EU.

Péter Balázs stressed
within the European Commission there had been set up a Special Support Group for
Ukraine and its principal goal is primarily coordinating efforts of the European
institutions in their aid to Ukraine. According to the representative
of the European Commissioner, the Support Group will comprise in particular of
former European commissioners. Overall the Support Group plans to delegate to
Ukraine 40 to 50 its members. “It is quite a large
organization called to render assistance to Ukraine which poses a huge
interest for us. The Support group shall also deal with areas joined to the
Association Agreement. They shall work with teams being engaged into
activities directed to the political reforming, law, macroeconomic, trade,
energy…”, the diplomat told. The Minister of
Cabinet of Ministers outlined the top priority lines in which Ukraine needs help. Moreover, Ostap Semerak informed that
soon there would be set up Governmental-European Office with a subdivision
within the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine. According to the Minister, the posts
will be advertised for the specialists to hire to this structure. “I hope
this competition will commence in several days. It will be a group to
coordinate work of our ministries and other governmental structures with the
Support Group and other European structures in Brussels,” Ostap
Semerak said. The Minister reminded
to his European guest that there had been introduced a new post of deputy
minister in every ministry who would directly be engaged into implementation
of the Association Agreement and work with the commissions in Brussels. The Minister of
Cabinet of Ministers emphasized that for the current Government Eurointegration
appears of a top priority direction, so the Government will do everything in
power to ensure fastest implementation of the Association Agreement. |
