Common Aviation Area Agreement signing between Ukraine and the EU to be postponed

Scheduled for today, June 5, 2014, the signing of the Common Aviation Area Agreement between Ukraine and the European Union has been postponed by the European side. The reason for this is that positions of Spain and the United Kingdom have not been yet agreed concerning the formulation of the article about the territorial application in terms of Gibraltar.

In its turn, Ukraine is ready to sign the Common Aviation Area Agreement and is waiting for the EU decision on the territorial dispute over Gibraltar.

Now we are negotiating for another possible date of signing the Common Aviation Area Agreement between the EU and Ukraine.

Let’s remind, that the Common Aviation Area Agreement between the EU and Ukraine was initialed in Vilnius on 28 November, 2013. In practice, this means that, in addition to ensuring flights safety and certification regulations, European companies are able to fly without restriction to any airport of Ukraine and Ukrainian carriers - to any airport of Europe.
