Anders Fogh Rasmussen: NATO will remain reliable partner and continue supporting Ukraine
In the
framework of the first day of a two-day meeting of NATO defense ministers in
Brussels the acting Defense Minister of Ukraine, Colonel
General Mykhaylo Koval held a short meeting with NATO’s Secretary General. Anders
Fogh Rasmussen noted that the alliance welcomes the results
of the presidential elections in Ukraine and the efforts directed to settlement
the crisis, supports the democratic transformations launched in our country.

“NATO
will remain a reliable partner and continue supporting Ukraine in future
transformations of its defense and security sector,” Anders Fogh Rasmussen emphasized and added the alliance appreciates
highly participation of the Ukrainian military in NATO military operations
and rotations of the NATO Response Force. The acting
Defense Minister of Ukraine, Colonel “The
Ukrainian military carry their mission appropriately in liquidation of the armed
terrorist formations who are committing acts of armed aggression in eastern
and southern regions of Ukraine. Simultaneously, the current conflict can
never be solved by exceptionally military tools, hence, we welcome the efforts
of the international community and the NATO directed to the settlement of it,”
the head of the national defense department stressed. The NATO defense
ministers hailed the outcomes of the presidential campaign in Ukraine and noted
the full support of the endeavors of the new Ukrainian government with
regards to stabilization of the situation in Ukraine and sustainable solution
to the crisis, and also increased collaboration with the defense and security
agencies of Ukraine in order to facilitate in realization ambitious tasks of
their development and transformations. They noted that realization of the
mentioned tasks will be done in both the NATO format and at bilateral level. Following
