Pavlo Petrenko: Elections proceeded in a democratic way. CEC has all legal grounds to determine voting results

It can be ascertained that early presidential elections in Ukraine hav been conducted without major violations which could influence legitimate nature of the electoral process. The elections were democratic, fair and transparent. Justice Minister Pavlo Petrenko announced during a briefing at the House of Government on Sunday, May 25.

“International observers, law enforcement bodies and human rights organizations concluded these are the first elections in Ukraine which were conducted without any administrative resource,” the Minister emphasized.

He added Ukrainian Government had ensured holding of the electoral process on the legislative, material-technical and security levels.

“We are convinced that the Central Election Commission of Ukraine has all legal grounds to determine the voting results and announce them in terms envisaged by the legislation,” Pavlo Petrenko stated.

He noted the Government was grateful to the compatriots who visited the polling stations, members of electoral commissions, law enforcement officers who in difficult environment could have ensured democratic and transparent elections in Ukraine.

“I believe within nearest time the Central Election Commission will work on relevant procedures of district electoral commissions and announce voting results, and accounting for the facts that the elections had been held based on the legislation, as was recognized the Venice Commission and all international observers, these elections will be recognized by the global community as being fair, transparent and democratic elections in Ukraine,” Pavlo Petrenko summed up.
