Vitalii Yarema: Events in Odessa will be investigated quickly and objectively

On Saturday, during a media conference in Odessa the First Vice Prime Minister of Ukraine Vitalii Yarema told about the course of investigation of the events that had led to numerous deaths of people in Odessa on May 2.

The top official informed that on commission of the Prime Minister of Ukraine a group of employees of the Ministry of Internal Affairs had arrived to Odessa with an aim to conduct an official investigation and render assistance to the law enforcement bodies of Odessa region in the process of investigating.

According to him, this tragic event is the result of negligence in fulfillment of official duties of administration of the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine in Odessa region.  

Vitalii Yarema assured that presently the Prosecutor’s Office and the internal affairs bodies were engaged into a serious activity and urged to be reserved and wait for an objective investigation of these events. “The investigation will be objective and no person involved into these tragic events will avoid responsibility,” V. Yarema emphasized.

Moreover, the First Vice Prime Minister accentuated “the Government is taking measures to prevent and avoid analogous cases in the future”. As is known, the First Vice Prime Minister of Ukraine Vitalii Yarema is staying in Odessa as a head of the Governmental commission investigating cases of numerous deaths of people in pro-Ukrainian rallies and a fire in the Building of Trade Unions in the town.
