Oleh Musiy: The state should adjust prices for medicines while local leaders and self-government should be team mates in that

During a working trip to Mykolayiv region the Minister of Healthcare of Ukraine Oleh Mysiy attended healthcare facilities of the region.

In the regional TB dispensary the Minister visited children and hospice sections of the hospital. During the meeting with the staff and patients of the dispensary Oleh Musiy noted that tuberculosis is one of the most dangerous social diseases, so the issues of curing it are very acute, especially now, when Ukraine is steadily moving towards the European Union membership.

“Using help of the Global Fund, state and local budgets joined with highly qualified assistance of doctors we will be trying to put an end to the cases of tuberculosis within our country, especially the cases in children,” Oleh Mysiy ascertained.

In the central regional hospital of Mykolayiv region the Minister got acquainted with material, technical and cadre maintenance of maternity and neurological departments, and in Zhovtnevy district hospital of Mykolayiv the Minister visited surgical department.

While talking to the leaders of the mentioned institutions Oleh Musiy paid attention to the legal and social aspects of functioning of pharmaceutical institutions on the territory of the healthcare facilities.

“The prices for medicines, especially those situated directly in the hospital, must comply with the amounts of money in the wallets of our patients. So, within nearest time the Government is to consider reference pricing for medicine in order to raise their availability for the broad circle of patients. And I address chiefs of healthcare facilities and local councils and urge them to side with the community and to be more reasonable in the process of giving permissions for the activity of pharmacies in hospitals and clinics,” Oleh Musiy informed.
