U.S. ready to assist Ukraine in strengthening energy independence

Finance Minister of Ukraine Oleksandr Shlapak has met with Carlos Pascual, U.S. Special Envoy and Coordinator for International Energy Affairs in Washington.

It was agreed during the meeting to send an expert group to Ukraine in the near future, which will meet with leaders and experts of "Naftogaz of Ukraine" and the Ministry of Energy and Coal Industry.

There was also discussed concrete ways how to improve the situation with Ukraine's gas balance, including the introduction of reverse supplies, increasing domestic production with modern technology, and the issue how to improve energy efficiency in Ukraine.
