Dmytro Bulatov meets with UNICEF Representative in Ukraine

On April 9, 2014 the Minister of Youth and Sports of Ukraine Dmytro Bulatov met with UNICEF Representative in Ukraine Yukie Mokuo.

Dmytro Bulatov informed about the priority actions that the Ministry of Youth and Sports of Ukraine should carried out.

According to him, an audit of the Ministry and all subordinate enterprises will be held soon. "We understand the need of reforms and extirpation of corruption. The Ministry will be open and transparent," Dmytro Bulatov said.

During the meeting it was stressed on the positive impact of sport on children's development. In particular, the Ukrainian side informed about the intention of the Ministry to create sports infrastructure and the involvement of children and youth in physical training and sports.

For its part, Yukie Mokuo noted that sport is an important platform for physical and spiritual education of children, and to build a society in which there will be no discrimination and violence. "We must join forces in order to attract public attention to the importance of protecting the rights of children and their physical education and cultural development," Yukie Mokuo said.

The sides have agreed to step up cooperation between the Ministry of Youth and Sports and the UN Children's Fund (UNICEF) in 2014.
