Ukrainian PM calls on to abolish "experiment" in healthcare system as well as changes in this field

Prime Minister of Ukraine A.Yatsenyuk considers necessary to eliminate the so-called experiment in the healthcare system established by the previous government, PM said this at a meeting with industrialists, entrepreneurs and employers on Friday, April 4.

This experiment is "absolutely idle": "It boiled down to arithmetic reduction of health facilities and doctors. And by the way, the funding of this sphere was not even reduced."

He expects from the Ministry of Health "specific vision for change" in this issue. "We expect that the new minister will propose a concept together with Western experts. It will be a difficult process as well as with the development of the social system as a whole ", he said.

Answering questions about the introduction of the value added tax at the rate of 7 per cent per transaction for the supply of medicines and medical devices Arseniy Yatsenyuk has explained that this change is called to develop a domestic pharmaceutical production, because it is not in a competitive environment. Domestic manufacturers should develop drugs and sell them cheaper than imported ones.

He recalled that under the previous government there was a scheme by which "according to an invoice a drug that cost $ 1 was imported for $ 4."They inflated invoice in order to avoid paying income tax here and sent money abroad."
