Minister of Cabinet of Minister Ostap Semerak has proposed representatives of foreign business in Ukraine to join to the fighting corruption.

"We, the government officials offer you, representatives of business community, to help us in the fighting corruption and to report the facts which you face: on customs, in government offices or elsewhere. The corruption is perhaps the greatest misfortune of Ukrainian society," the Minister said on April 2, at the 10th Annual Investment Conference in Kiev.

Ostap Semerak informed representatives of foreign business that they can join to the work of governmental committees, which have recently resumed their operation, and directly submit their proposals on optimization of the investment climate in Ukraine.

The Minister stressed that the Government is working hard upon draft laws that would prevent corruption schemes. "The fighting corruption is one of the priorities of the Ukrainian government. Management system in times of the previous government is rotten so much that we have to “clean out” from every corner. And to stop corruption, in my opinion, we must introduced maximum transparency in all government decisions. In this direction we have already taken concrete steps, namely: the Government submitted to the Parliament a draft law On Public Procurement, which eradicate old scheme for corruption," the official noted.

"We hope that the Verkhovna Rada will vote this bill at the next session week," he added.

Ostap Semerak spoke about his experiences of debunking corruption schemes. "When I was a member of the Parliament of the previous convocation, I was investigating corruption schemes, money laundering in preparation for Euro 2012. So, I know in facts rather than in words what the corruption is under the previous government.
