Ostap Semerak: Government fleet sales to be held in June

On April 2, the Minister of the Cabinet of Ministers Ostap Semerak informed during a briefing. The event took place on the territory of the car enterprise of the Secretariat of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine, where an excursion for media representatives was organized.

The Minister of the Cabinet of Ministers explained that pursuant to the Act of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine dated March 25, 2014, №276-р “On reducing the number of vehicles used by certain governmental bodies”, the Secretariat of the Cabinet of Ministers has to shorten by 50% the amount of vehicles of the mentioned car enterprise. The same resolution was adopted regarding the Administration of the President and the Staff of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine.

“The previous officials were hiding the luxury they lived in at the account of tax payers. Our Government is not hiding from the society and demonstrates ultimate openness,” Ostap Semerak noted.

Presently, the Secretariat of the Cabinet of Ministers has 187 machinery units at their disposal with 142 motor vehicles out of the number. It is planned to sell 71 automobiles.

The Minister of the Cabinet of Ministers informed that auction for the sales of the motor vehicles would be held in compliance with the Law of Ukraine “On the state procurement” and the Act of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine dated June 6, 2007, №803 “On the approval of order of alienation of state property objects”. “According to the preliminary schedule, in the first half of June it is planned to hold an auction for the sales of vehicles of the Secretariat of the Cabinet of Ministers, with further filling documents and transferring of funds to the State Budget of Ukraine,” the Minister told.

Ostap Semerak announced the Government would conduct the car fleet sales with maximal openness. “We wish to inform the Ukrainian society about what property is sold, who it is sold to, for which funds. As all the obtained funds will be directed to the State Budget of Ukraine. Apart from the bargained money we plan economizing of funds that have been spent for fuel, repair, servicing of the automobiles,” he stressed.

According to the Government official, the final sum from realization of cars will depend on the activity of bidders. “But in any case we expect it would be millions of hryvnyas,” he said.

“All the interested will have a chance to participate in the auction of cars. The procedure will be open,” Ostap Semerak emphasized. The Minister invited media people to the auction.

Another planned issue is discharge of 80 employees of the car enterprise. “The Government has no other way out than to take extremely unpopular decisions, but these decisions will help to save the Ukrainian economy. The Government officials cannot live in luxury at the time when Ukrainian society is on the verge of survival,” the Minister stressed.
