Oleksandr Sych: Ukraine needs libraries that are ready to work in the information society

Librarianship in Ukraine needs not only sorting the network of facilities, but also providing them with quality new role taking into account the experience of the leading countries of the world. This was started by the Vice Prime Minister of Ukraine Oleksandr Sych yesterday at a meeting on the state of libraries and librarianship.

According to the official, the modernization of the industry should begin from an audit of logistics and the level of personnel training of workers in the sector.

Vice Prime Minister stressed the need for a rational approach to the funding of libraries, providing professional management of the sector and the immediate improvement of the regulatory framework. "Modernization of the sector requires coordination of efforts at the national and community levels, active involvement of funds of benefactors and dissemination of best national practices of librarianship," the official said.
