Minister of Cabinet of Ministers Ostap Semerak has held a working meeting with the president of Ukrainian World Congress Yevhen Choliy and the president of Ukrainian Congress of Canada Pavlo Grod.

Mr. Choliy informed that the Ukrainian World Congress enumerating around 20 million was ready “to lobby” the interests of Ukrainian state all around the world.

The representatives of Ukrainian Diaspora assured that they were prepared to render overall support to the Ukrainian Government in solving various problems in different countries throughout the world, but they needed a more distinct coordination of actions with the Ukrainian Government.

“I recurrently meet with Prime Minister of Canada and we are often engaged in talks concerning rendering various kinds of assistance. But our cooperation with the Government of Canada could have been even more effective if we knew what the Ukrainian Government needs. For instance, the Ukrainian Government has provided Canada with the list of armour, that is necessary for Ukraine. We will cooperate in this issue as well. The Ukrainian Diaspora in the world is considerable. Perhaps it is the most numerous after the Jewish one,” Pavlo Grod assured.

In turn Ostap Semerak noted that the present Government of Ukraine was paying a huge attention to cooperation with Ukrainian expatriates. At this the Minister expressed pity that this cooperation was not tight enough. And the Government engages Ukrainian Diaspora not so actively to solving urgent problems, communications with their governments. In particular, it concerns the U.S.A., the European Union participating states.

However, according to him there are objective reasons for that. Notably, the Government has been operating for under a month. Apart from that, as is known, in fact the previous government didn’t maintain ties with Ukrainian Diaspora, not to mention cooperation.

The Minister assured representatives of Ukrainian Diaspora that within nearest time already the Government would have a clear vision of how to coordinate work with the Diaspora.

Yevhen Choliy informed that in the nearest time the Ukrainian World Congress has an intention to set up the Ukrainian World Congress Bureau in Kyiv targeting to establish a more effective communication with Ukrainian Government. Moreover, Yevhen Choliy said a bulk of experts in various branches and volunteers, having the desire to help to Ukrainian authorities, was being prepared in the Ukrainian World Congress.
