First Vice Prime
Minister Vitalii Yarema holds
meeting with delegation of the U.S. Congress led by the junior United States
senator Kelly A. Ayotte, Senator Joe Donnelly and
Congressman Stephen Lynch. The meeting was also attended by United States
Ambassador to Ukraine Geoffrey R. Pyatt.
During the meeting the
sides discussed the current situation in Ukraine
and illegal acts of the Russian Federation
regarding the annexation of the Crimea
peninsula.
The First Vice Prime Minister assured the Congress representatives that
Ukraine highly appreciates
the support of the United
States on the issue of guaranteeing the
sovereignty and territorial integrity of the Ukrainian state. He stressed that
the Ukrainian government is doing everything possible to resolve the issue
peacefully. However, Vitalii Yarema
noted that the signing of the agreement on the inclusion of Crimea to the Russian Federation
causes big concern. The official added that in view of this, Ukraine is waiting that the
Congress will take more effective action against the aggressor.
