Arsenii Yatseniuk receives Federal Minister for Foreign Affairs of Germany

On Saturday, March 22, the Prime Minister of Ukraine Arsenii Yatseniuk has received Federal Minister for Foreign Affairs of Germany Frank-Walter Steinmeier.

At a media encounter on the outcomes of the meeting Arsenii Yatseniuk noted that after signing the political part of the Association Agreement between Ukraine and the EU there is a clear legal and political basis of our multilateral and bilateral relations: “It is what was much expected by millions of Ukrainians. Out task now is to fulfill this deal jointly”.

Arsenii Yatseniuk emphasized that four most acute questions had been considered with the government of Germany. According to the Head of the Government, the first question concerns energy safety: “We need reverse gas supplies from the EU participating countries in order to protect energy security of Ukraine”.  

Moreover, the Prime Minister stressed during the meeting the parties had discussed corruption fight, in particular setting up an Anti-corruption bureau and technical assistance by Germany rendered “to fight corruption and punish all those guilty of money laundering and embezzlement of Ukraine”.

Another issue is demonopolization of Ukrainian economy and “creating real market conditions in Ukraine called to ensure functioning of Ukrainian business and coming of German investors here”.

Apart from that, the interlocutors discussed military-technical cooperation and assistance that is to be directed to re-equipment and reinforcement of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

“Our agenda is very considerable,” the Head of Government added.

He also conveyed gratitude to the Federal Government of Germany “for the clear position regarding Ukrainian sovereignty, Ukrainian independence and territorial integrity”.
