Prime Minister: NATO is able to help in political and diplomatic settlement of crisis

On March 6, Prime Minister of Ukraine Arsenii Yatseniuk met with NATO Secretary General Anders Fogh Rasmussen in Brussels.

During a press conference following the meeting Arsenii Yatseniuk stressed that the crisis in Ukraine should be resolve only peacefully, "It is clear that no military option is on the table."

“We do not consider the military option as a way out of the crisis. We still believe that we need to do our utmost to tackle the crisis only political and diplomatic tools. NATO as a one of very important political tool in fixing the global security crisis can be very helpful,” Arsenii Yatseniuk said.

He stressed that “it’s up to Russian Government to make the step back and to make the first step to stabilize the situation in the region and not to escalate further tension between Ukraine and Russia and further tension for the whole Europe”

“We call on the Russian government to pull back forces and act in accordance with the international agreements. I stress again that this is the responsibility of the Russian government. They’ve started this, they need to put an end to this,” prime Minister emphasized

Arsenii Yatseniuk also noted that he delivered the invitation to the NATO Secretary General to make a visit to Ukraine. He expressed confidence in the importance of closer cooperation and more humanitarian and technical support from NATO to improve the defense and security of Ukraine.
