A.Yatseniuk : U.S., EU and IMF economic aid to allow Ukraine to stabilize economic situation
“Opportunities that
Ukraine will receive through economic and financial aid packages from the U.S.,
the EU and the IMF will enable to stabilize the economic situation”, emphasized
Ukrainian PM A. Yatseniuk during the Government meeting
and conference call with the heads of regional state administrations on
Wednesday, March 5.
He has said that
tomorrow Brussels will host an extraordinary meeting of EU Heads of State or
Government, in which the Ukrainian PM will participate at the invitation of the
Council of the European Union.
The PM underlined
that yesterday the U.S. Secretary of State announced the first package of
economic assistance that Ukraine would receive: "I hope as soon as
possible - today and tomorrow - our European partners will also announce an
economic package of financial assistance to Ukraine."
"The state
of the public finances is very difficult. Those
opportunities that we get due to economic and financial aid packages from the
U.S., the EU and the IMF will allow us to stabilize the economic situation,"
the PM said.
He has also
emphasized that the Russian military aggression on the territory of Ukraine
will have not only political and security but also economic consequences: “the
unwarranted presence of Russian troops on the territory of Ukraine affects,
first of all, extremely negative the Ukrainian economy”.
“Once again I
call on the Russian government to immediately withdraw troops, perform
bilateral and multilateral agreements. What’s
happening in Crimea threatens not only the national security of Ukraine, but
also the whole world. Only Russia is
responsible for these actions. Russian
leadership has and will have no reason for military aggression on the territory
of Ukraine”, said A. Yatseniuk.
