On February 26, 2014,
Mr. Victor Mayko, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs
of Ukraine, received Mr. Zhang Xiyun, Ambassador
Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the People’s Republic of China to Ukraine.
During the meeting the
parties discussed the current state of the Ukrainian-Chinese relations of
strategic partnership, of trade and economic cooperation and the implementation
of agreements in the fields of energy, agriculture, infrastructure development
etc.
The Ambassador of
China stated that currently there were no problems between Ukraine and China that could negatively affect
further development of the two states interaction. The Chinese diplomat made a
special emphasis on the willingness of the official Beijing
to further develop strategic partnership with Ukraine and stressed the readiness
to continue mutually beneficial bilateral projects in agriculture, energy and
other areas.
In the context of
yesterday's information in some electronic media that China allegedly demanded from Ukraine to return the loan of 3 billion USD for
the supply of agricultural products, the Ambassador of China emphasized the
absence of claims from official Beijing
as to the implementation of this contract and the willingness of the Chinese
side to continue its realization. In this regard, Zhang Xiyun
informed about the visit to Kyiv, which is scheduled in the near future, of the
president of CCEC for the next round of negotiations with the State Food and
Grain Corporation of Ukraine
on the implementation of this contract.
