K. Gryshchenko: Internet infrastructure of higher educational institutions of Ukraine has to correspond to the best world standards
On February
12, Vice Prime Minister of Ukraine Kostyantyn Gryshchenko held a meeting
dedicated to the development of IT education in Ukraine.

The participants of
the meeting raised a series of questions the realization of which is
necessary to ensure successful development of information technologies area
of Ukraine. Among them are providing
real economy sector enterprises with sufficient amount of IT specialists,
harmonizing of education standards in compliance with the needs of the
branch, the level of teaching foreign languages and level of development of
Internet infrastructure in the national universities and institutes. According to K.
Gryshchenko, one of the key issues that influences
the development of information communication technologies area appears
providing enterprises with sufficient number of specialists. At this, the
Vice Premier emphasized on the need to harmonize educational professional standards
taking into account practical demands of the branch, improvement of the level
of teaching foreign languages and increasing competitiveness among the
applicants entering higher educational institutions. Peculiar attention
was paid to the development of e-libraries in Ukraine and Internet
infrastructure of the higher educational institutions. “I am convinced in
this year the percentage of universities using in full electronic library
resources, both international and national ones, will significantly grow,” the
Vice Prime Minister stressed. Apart from that, the
Government’s official considers important the level of Wi-Fi coverage of
university campuses, laboratories and hostels. |
