V. Semynozhenko: Development of LED production will start up a new economy branch in Ukraine
Development
of LED production in our country has triggered starting up a new economy branch.
The head of the State Agency for Science, Innovation and Informatization Volodymyr Semynozhenko informed during
reporting to the Government with regards to the state of implementation of
projects of the State Program for activization of the economic development for
2013 – 2014.

According
to him, introduction of sophisticated illumination systems is of extreme
significance for Ukraine. So, annually our country spends 25% of produced electric
power for the outdoor lighting. “The project will afford to cut electric
power expenses for lighting by 30%, which has to influence considerably
growing of the level of energy safety in the country,” Volodymyr
Semynozhenko explained. Besides, the
share of national LED lighting technology in the general amount of LED
production will grow from 4 – 4.5%(2012) to 40%
(2016), while the share of counterfeit products will drop to 10%. “A new
branch is being created in Ukraine presently – LED. So, it is important to
react exceedingly fast to the world tendencies, demands and challenges of
time, use the new opportunities in terms of LED branch. Ukrainian market has a
huge potential for that,” V. Semynozhenko stressed.
Together with
that, he added, transition to LED lighting systems would displace
environmentally dangerous mercury-vapour lamps. V. Semynozhenko emphasized the project of introducing of
integrated lighting systems was realized in various regions of Ukraine and in
the recent period, owing to high environmental safety, it had been widely used
on social objects, such as schools, higher educational institutions, medical
institutions. According to the chief of the State Agency for Science, Innovation and Informatization, agreements were concluded with local executive authorities and works fulfilled in introducing of LED lighting systems: “Overall there have been signed memorandums with 31 regional and local administrations”. |
In the current
year it is envisaged to realize projects on introducing comprehensive lighting
systems to the tune of UAH 482.3 mln pursuant to the
concluded contracts.
