Due to the deteriorating of weather conditions on the instruction of the Government in the region, more than 4.3 thousand heating points are operate and more than 1 thousand social patrols are on duty. Since the beginning of operation of heating points over 32 thousand people have been saved from hypothermia, including for the last day - over 3 thousand people. This was announced by Vice Prime Minister and Chairman of the State Commission on Technogenic, Ecological Safety and Emergencies Olexandr Vilkul.

"The heating season has become difficult. We are providing stable operation of life support systems in terms of a significant deterioration of the weather and social tensions. So, first of all I would like to thank all the services - public utilities, rescuers, power engineers, road builders, local government - all those who every moment prevent to collapse," Vice Prime Minister said.

He noted that under these conditions it is possible to ensure proper operation of life support systems only if all services will operate around-the-clock.

Olexandr Vilkul said that the Government will continue to provide necessary assistance to the regions. Today at the Cabinet meeting it was accepted a protocol instruction to the Ministry of Finance to immediately resolve the issue of funding of UAH 100 million. This amount will be spent on ensuring the smooth operation of snowplows and to purchase sand materials.

Also taking into account at the opportunity that at the beginning of spring could be drastic warming for the safety of citizens over the next two weeks in the region should be established operational headquarters and mobile teams for coordinating of the passage of ice drift, floods and spring floods. Also, up to February 14 joint exercises should be conducted in the regions.
