Rescue workers ensured operative response to all emergency situations in the period of holidays

The rescue officers of the State Emergency Service of Ukraine has ensured an operative response to all emergency situations that happened in the period of New Year and Christmas holidays through January 1-7. Overall there have been fixed 1027 such cases, including 983 fires. The head of the State Emergency Service of Ukraine Mykhaylo Bolotskykh informed during a briefing in the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine.

According to him, the rescuers saved lives of 77 persons in these emergency situations: 59 persons from fires, 6 – on water objects, 12 – on tourist routes in mountainous areas.  

At the same time, during the holidays there haven’t happened any classified emergency situations on the territory of Ukraine.

On the eve of Christmas in order to prevent fires during religious services the rescue officers had carried out an active prophylactic work in religious buildings. Owing to the fact there hadn’t happened any emergency situations during the services in crowded places.

Moreover, in the mentioned period there hadn’t occurred any disorders of sustainable functioning of live support systems: to all accidents in housing and communal economy there was ensured effective response and operative resuming of normal living conditions.

“During the holidays the rescue subdivisions operated in an intensive mode: 9.5 thousand rescuers and over 2.5 units of machinery were on duty in a 24-hour regime. In the case of worsening of operative environment, for instance, of bad weather we had planned strengthening forces and measures up to 22 thousand persons and over 5 units of machinery, but there didn’t appear such need. So, during the New Year and Christmas holidays the rescue officers had fulfilled the set by the President of Ukraine and the Government task in full – to be prepared to the actions on purpose and ensure effective response to emergency situations,” the head of the State Emergency Service of Ukraine Mykhaylo Bolotskykh emphasized.
