Communications Department of the Secretariat of the CMU, posted 21 February 2025 12:30

    Dear colleagues, fellow Ukrainians,

russia continues to carry out massive missile and drone attacks against our energy facilities.

The enemy is doing this with the sole purpose of causing a humanitarian catastrophe, leaving our cities without heating, water and electricity.

In recent days, the enemy has been particularly active in attacking the South of Ukraine: Mykolaiv, Kherson and Odesa. As a result of the attacks, some of these cities were left without electricity and heating.

All responsible agencies and power engineers worked 24/7 to repair the damaged equipment. Within a day, we managed to restore heat supply to Mykolaiv. Tens of thousands of people have already received electricity and heat back.

We are also returning heat to Odesa. Two boiler houses have resumed operation. Hospitals, schools and kindergartens are already heated. Specialists are working on the adjustment of internal heating systems in residential buildings.

At the same time, the enemy continues to try to destroy our gas infrastructure in order to leave Ukraine without its own gas. They are targeting production facilities with missiles. Attacks are taking place almost every day.

Despite all this terror, the situation in the energy sector remains under control. I am grateful to our power engineers for this.

The daily challenges we are facing now are not just about the energy sector.

Our country faces them in many dimensions. They include finance, weapons, economy, support for Ukrainian families, social benefits, and security.

In order to overcome these challenges, one of the key vectors of the Government’s work is to strengthen Ukraine’s self-sufficiency.

This is what provides security and independence in the broadest sense.

In this regard, we pay special attention to the production of our own weapons and strengthening the economy.

Domestic production in the drone segment is almost 100%.

In January this year, drone production increased 10 times compared to January 2024.

In 2023 and 2024, our own production of artillery tripled, armoured personnel carriers increased 5 times, anti-tank weapons increased 2 times, and ammunition increased 2.5 times.

At the same time, we are now producing about a third of the weapons we need ourselves. The task set by the Government is to bring our own arms production to at least half of the current demand.

In order to achieve this goal, we have allocated a record amount of money this year for the modernisation of our own defence industry and the purchase of weapons.

Today, the Government is also making a decision to allocate another UAH 7.9 billion for the purchase of drones. These funds will be redirected to the State Service of Special Communications and Information Protection, which will make the necessary purchases.

We are directing every hryvnia of taxpayers’ money from the state budget to the defence and security of our country.

The economic development of the defence industry is part of the “Made in Ukraine” programme.

The state gives priority to Ukrainian manufacturers and supports Ukrainian producers.

Grants, concessional loans, industrial parks, compensations, subsidies and regulatory exemptions. We are ready to help everyone who is ready to invest in the Ukrainian economy and production in Ukraine.

We have dozens of different programmes for this purpose, but they are all united by a single idea. Today, it is more important than ever to buy Ukrainian goods. To support our own. Because economic patriotism means strengthening our defence capability and our state.

At the same time, we continue to actively cooperate and interact with all our partners.

We want our allies who helped us in defence to become part of our success and our reconstruction.

We are ready to win peace together with our friends from Europe, America, Canada, the United Kingdom, and Japan.

Together, we must remain united around the idea of a just and lasting peace, which has always been the basis of President Zelenskyy’s strategy.

I am grateful to everyone who is currently defending our country.

I thank everyone who works for a strong Ukraine.

    Thank you for your attention.

    Glory to Ukraine!
