Ostap Semerak was born in the city of Lviv.
1989 - 1994 - studied at Ivan Franko Lviv National University (Faculty of Physics) and from 1992 to 1998 - at "Kyiv-Mohyla Academy" National University, Master's Degree in Political Science.
1992 - 1995 - Co-Founder and Deputy Head of the Student Fraternity at the "Kyiv-Mohyla Academy" National University.
1994 - 1996 - Coordinator of the "School for young politicians" program at the Ukrainian fund for the support of reforms.
Since 1996 - President of the Fund for assistance to the development of political and legal culture.
Since 1997 - Head of the "Reformy-Tsentr" Secretariat of the "Reformy i Poriadok" (Reforms and Order) faction in the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine. Since 2002 - Head of the Secretariat of the Nasha Ukraina (Our Ukraine) faction in the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine.Since 2005 - Head of the Secretariat of the Nasha Ukraina (Our Ukraine) faction in the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine.
2006 - 2007 - Deputy Head of the Kiyv Oblast State Administration responsible for Internal Policy and Public Relations.
2007 – 2012 - elected Deputy of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, 6th convocation. Member of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on Budget. Member of the Yulia Tymoshenko Bloc (BYuT) faction.
2010-2012 – Minister of youth, sport and preparation for Euro-2012 of the shadow government.
On February 27, 2014 was appointed Minister of the Cabinet of Ministers.
2014-2016 – Member of the Parliament of Ukraine of the VIII convocation.
On 14 April, 2016, was appointed to the post of the Minister of Ecology and Natural Resources of Ukraine.
A civil servant of the 1st rank.
Co-author of the book "ABC Ukrainian politics" (1997).
Ostap Semerak is married with two children.
