Ministry of Energy of Ukraine, posted 04 December 2023 11:11

Ukraine will become a leading green energy hub in the European community, combining energy production with the development of green technologies.

This was emphasised by German Galushchenko, Minister of Energy of Ukraine, in his online address to the participants of the UN Climate Change Conference COP28 in Dubai. The Energy Minister was taking part in a discussion on the importance of the green transition, which was also attended by European Commissioner for Energy Kadri Simson and representatives of energy companies.

“The war has shown that the development of renewable energy sources is more than just a matter of power generation. It is an element of the country’s energy security. And this experience Ukraine has gained is relevant for Europe and the whole world,” the Minister said.

German Galushchenko stressed that the synchronisation of the Ukrainian power system with the European ENTSO-E in the first weeks of the full-scale war not only helped to maintain the stability of the Ukrainian power grid, but also strengthened European partners.

The Minister thanked European Commissioner Kadri Simson for supporting Ukraine and its energy sector in these difficult times and assured that the solidarity of the partners would help to further strengthen the continent’s energy security, in particular through Ukraine’s integration into the European energy markets.

“Renewable energy sources are an important part of our strategy for the future. We are already working on the development of such projects. And this is in line with the vision of President Volodymyr Zelenskyy: Ukraine will become the energy hub of Europe,” he stressed.
