The bill on unbundling is primarily the implementation of European gas rules that provide for the separation of the operation of gas transmission and distribution systems from production and supply activities. The Prime Minister of Ukraine Oleksiy Honcharuk commented on the adoption by the Verkhovna Rada in its second reading and as whole of the Bill on Amendments to certain laws of Ukraine in connection with the separation of natural gas transmission activities. The draft law was supported by 341 MPs.

The bill was designed to ensure the implementation of international obligations and appears a prerequisite for certification as it confirms the compliance of Ukrainian energy legislation with the European law.

"It guarantees the energy security of Europe, enhances our resilience in the international arena," said Oleksiy Honcharuk.

The Head of Government stressed that the adoption of the law on unbundling would give an advantage in the tripartite negotiations on this issue.

At that, the Prime Minister accentuated that the Ukrainian gas transmission system remains 100% owned by the state.
