Testing for coronavirus on previously selected samples has been completed - all results are negative. There had been no confirmed coronavirus cases in Ukraine, and the country remains free from the circulation of this infection. This was announced by Deputy Minister of Health, Chief Sanitary Doctor of Ukraine Viktor Lyashko at a briefing.
"The healthcare system is ready for all possible scenarios. Today we have 2,500 isolation rooms located in the infectious disease wards. These are the first premises in which the patients with the suspected infection will be under observation. In addition, there are 12,500 beds in infectious hospitals in the country," Viktor Lyashko said.
The Ukrainian Public Health Center has also purchased in Germany a test system for coronavirus detection, the World Health Organization (WHO) has transferred 30 test kits for 3,000 studies and domestic test systems have already been registered. In addition, rapid coronavirus tests that can be used outside of the labs are expected on March 10.
Medical staff training has already begun. In particular, trainings are being held today at the Alexander Clinical Hospital in Kyiv on the rules for hospitalization of possible patients with coronavirus for emergency medical teams and epidemiologists and infectious disease specialists.
For the second consecutive day, the WHO experts have been conducting training for epidemiologists and virologists from all over the country on diagnostics, correct sampling, hospitalization and more. Viktor Lyashko stressed that such exercises will be held throughout the country.
According to him, daily epidemiologists measure the body temperature of 75,000 - 80,000 people crossing the Ukrainian border.
