The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine at a meeting on January 16 approved the list of large state-owned companies for privatization.
According to the Minister of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine Oleksandr Saienko, this list has no expiration date and can be amended by the Government. Enterprises that do not fall under the criteria of objects of strategic importance will be included in this list.
"We are switching from annual privatization plans to long-term planning of this process. The State Property Fund of Ukraine (SPFU) as privatization authority will be able to apply flexible approaches to the sales procedures depending on readiness of a company. We expect the SPFU to ensure maximum transparency and efficiency," the Minister emphasized.
Moreover, the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine received a number of appeals from local authorities regarding the transfer of thermal power stations from the state to communal ownership, in particular, there were appeals from Kryvyi Rih City Council regarding transfer of JSC Kryvyi Rih thermal power plant, from Mykolaiv City Council regarding PJSC Mykolaiv thermal power plant, from Kherson City Council regarding JSC Kherson power plant and from Kamyanska City Coucli regarding JSC Dniprovska thermal power plant.
Therefore, the Government guided by the numerous appeals has decided temporarily not to include state-owned thermal power plants in the list of large scale privatization and in the shortest time to wind up the process of their transfer into the ownership of territorial communities.
